A chic monochrome palette defines this family home on Sydney’s North Shore. Our client was keen to have a light-filled space with open-plan living and relaxed, communal areas, all in a look inspired by her travels to the far north coast of NSW.

At the heart of the home is a kitchen designed for entertaining, with extensive runs of dark, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry providing the backdrop to a custom designed marble and timber-clad island – as perfect a spot for the kids to have dinner or tackle their homework as it is as a gathering place for guests. The bright, coastal feel delivered by white walls, natural materials such as timber and marble and ocean-hued furnishings is given a contemporary edge with black window framing, light fittings and accessories.
